Safe Drinking Water & FORCE – LG Eco Agents of Change Projects
Safe Drinking Water Project
Vadamangalam village in Puducherry has long struggled with saline groundwater, leaving residents without a safe source of drinking water. To tackle this urgent need, Help Foundation India, in collaboration with the community, installed a high-capacity Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification plant. This facility serves over 700 households, delivering clean, affordable drinking water through a smart, card-operated Water ATM system. With advanced filtration technology, it processes up to 500 liters per hour, removing harmful salts and contaminants to meet safe drinking standards. The initiative also generates local employment, with two trained youth managing dayto- day operations and ensuring smooth functioning. Distributed reusable water cans and ATM cards for convenient and hygienic access, while awareness sessions promote good hygiene, sanitation, and safe water storage practices. More than just a water project, this model improves public health, prevents waterborne diseases, empowers the community, and offers a scalable solution for rural areas facing water scarcity.
